No, I’m Not Serious

3 July 2012

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has recently posted an official denial of the existence of mermaids: “No evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found.” This happens at the same time that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has seized the internet domain BelieveInMermaids.com – Exactly what are they trying to hide?

I’m a Dad; Send ME Money

17 June 2012

It’s Father’s Day, which (as you all know) is traditionally celebrated by sending money to Barack Obama. I guess that’s so he can take the day off with his sons or something. (Five mentions of the nonexistent sons so far and counting.) When was the last time he mentioned his daughters, by the way?

Anyway, the way Obama turns anything and everything into another opportunity to extort money from people these days, maybe he should be running for Nigerian Prime Minister rather than American President…

“Recalling the governor will create a circumstance where nobody ever makes a hard decision again … A recall would spread instability and uncertainty among your people and across the country.” –Bill Clinton back in 2003, when the governor in question was a Democrat (Gray Davis, CA). Typical

Here’s a smug and smarmy picture I was just exposed to on the intertubes, by another smug and smarmy person who was applauding it.

If someone wants to put their own opinions on their own vehicles, more power to ’em; it’s a great way for me to spot the idiots in the crowd and give them wide berth while I’m commuting home. But this jerk is borrowing his father’s truck (and, who knows; living in his father’s basement, eating his father’s food, etc.?) and can’t resist sticking a contradictory sign in the window while doing so? If he feels that strongly about the issue, let him get a job and his own car. Like I have, when I’m commuting and giving wide berth to ungrateful self-satisfied idiots like him.

Fauxtography

26 March 2012

Riehl World View brings us the curious case of the photoshopped Trayvon Martin picture (H/T: IHateTheMedia.com), where the original (from The Miami Herald) was altered to make Trayvon look younger, lighter, more innocent and less threatening. Must change the evidence to fit the narrative, after all.

Remember when they did the same thing in reverse to OJ Simpson, and the uproar that caused? Do you expect the same outrage at MSM chicanery this time? (Me neither.)

Oh Boy, Another On-Line Petition!

25 March 2012

My wife has seen people passing this one around on Facebook:

Support the Student Loan Forgiveness Act of 2012

Pardon me, but if you didn’t mean it when you signed your student loan forms, promising to pay back the money you took from them and squandered, then why should we assume that your signature has any value when you put it on this petition?

3Wood has written a short piece on Student Loans – The Next Bubble. I was a little more insulting when I hit this topic last year.

“Infidel”

16 March 2012

Military.com — In the wake of the recent setbacks in Afghanistan, American commanders are working overtime trying to instill sensitivity among U.S. troops toward their Afghan counterparts and their Islamic culture. But many American servicemembers already wear their feelings on their sleeves – sometimes literally – choosing a powerful term to represent the way they believe they’re perceived by the Muslim world: “Infidel.” There are infidel hats, infidel T-shirts and infidel uniform patches – an entire genre of morale wear that emerged from the ashes of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. (H/T: Mandy)

“Infidel” is a versatile term. It describes our servicemen in Afghanistan, and it also describes the tongues of Hollywood liberals who visit Cuba.

Coming to You Soon as “Soma”

According to The Daily Beast, there’s now a pill to cure racism.

…Writing in the medical journal Psychopharmacology, British investigators found that a veteran heart and blood pressure pill, propranolol, which acts to lower our fight-or-flight response to anything by dialing down adrenaline production, reduced “implicit racial bias” significantly. They ran their study in 36 white 22-year-old volunteers and distinguished implicit associations from explicit racial prejudice. … (H/T: JCM)

While some question whether or not thirty-six people is enough of a sample size to make such an announcement (it’s not), I have to question the fact that only white people were included in the sample. Apparently, the “implicit racial bias” of the investigators, who might want to consider taking some of their own medicine, is that only white people can be racist. Physicians, heal thyselves.

Fundamentally Transformative CHANGE!
