Riehl World View brings us the curious case of the photoshopped Trayvon Martin picture (H/T: IHateTheMedia.com), where the original (from The Miami Herald) was altered to make Trayvon look younger, lighter, more innocent and less threatening. Must change the evidence to fit the narrative, after all.
Remember when they did the same thing in reverse to OJ Simpson, and the uproar that caused? Do you expect the same outrage at MSM chicanery this time? (Me neither.)
According to The Daily Beast, there’s now a pill to cure racism.
…Writing in the medical journal Psychopharmacology, British investigators found that a veteran heart and blood pressure pill, propranolol, which acts to lower our fight-or-flight response to anything by dialing down adrenaline production, reduced “implicit racial bias” significantly. They ran their study in 36 white 22-year-old volunteers and distinguished implicit associations from explicit racial prejudice. … (H/T: JCM)
While some question whether or not thirty-six people is enough of a sample size to make such an announcement (it’s not), I have to question the fact that only white people were included in the sample. Apparently, the “implicit racial bias” of the investigators, who might want to consider taking some of their own medicine, is that only white people can be racist. Physicians, heal thyselves.
I made the above graphic almost two years ago, and I just spotted it (albeit unlinked and uncredited) on BigJournalism.com (which I peruse every weekday, even if I haven’t gotten around to updating my blogroll in many months). Some might complain about the usage without acknowledgement, but I view it as the second-sincerest form of flattery.
“There are Jews who are trending toward the Republican Party, some of it because of their misunderstanding of Obama’s policies in the Middle East, and some of it, quite frankly, for economic reasons. They feel they want to protect their wealth, which is why a lot of well-off voters vote for Republicans.” -Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA)
When Jews vote Republican, they are wrong because they are voting for their own self-interests.
When Blacks vote Republican, they are wrong because they are voting against their own self-interests.
See how that works?
HOQUIAM, WA — A community festival in Hoquiam is attracting attention with a T-shirt mocking Osama bin Laden. Logging remains an important part of Grays Harbor County, and the loggers’ Playday festival celebrates that heritage every September. And every year, a special shirt is made. Known for being edgy, previous designs have mocked environmentalists and hippies. “The shirt in no way, shape or form was intended to be racist, or bigotry and anything along those lines,” said Don Bell, the festival T-Shirt creator. But this year, a brouhaha erupted when Osama bin Laden made the cut on the front of the 2011 T-shirt, strapped to a log, with the caption – “Osama bin Loggin.” …
I have heard, enough times that it makes me vomit, that Osama bin Laden was not a true member of the “Religion of Peace”, but that he hijacked it for his own purposes. In any event, the only muslims (or other liberals) who should be offended by this shirt are (a) those who support Osama bin Laden, agreeing with his goals and methods; and (b) those who think poor sheikh Osama was framed by the CIA and the Mossad for an inside job. And you know what? I honestly don’t give a fuck if any of those groups are offended. In fact, I hope they are. (more…)
I for one am sick and tired of being called a terrorist (which is the massively-coordinated MSM/Democrat talking point du jour) from people who are afraid to call actual terrorists “terrorists” … Not to mention by people who actually associate with actual terrorists (Barack Obama and Bill Ayers, just for starters). Sarah Palin points out that “if we were real domestic terrorists, shoot, President Obama would be wanting to pal around with us, wouldn’t he?” It’s disgusting to claim that people who simply want the government to act with responsibility and restraint in regards to the budget and our civil liberties are “terrorists” and “holding the nation hostage” (especially from the so-called self-described “party of civility”), and only serves to prove that Gerald Seymour had it backwards when he said that “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.”
After listening to Democrat politicians and the Democrat propaganda wing of the mainstream media continue to paint any opposition to higher taxes, higher spending, higher debt, and their Glorious Chairman Obama as “violent,” “extremist,” “racist” and “terrorist;” I think we can be forgiven to be a little leery about Obama’s latest strategy to combat violent extremism. (H/T: WZ)
Local communities, not Washington, are best suited to counter violent extremism, according to a new national strategy the Obama administration took more than a year to produce. The strategy pointedly does not focus on threats from Muslim extremism.
Of course not. And I doubt very much if it focuses on SEIU thugs or Ayers types either.
Today’s dose of Leftist revisionism and propaganda comes from Where is the Outrage:
GOP Equals Hypocrisy — With Eric Cantor walking out of the high-level debt ceiling negotiation, I thought it’d be interesting to look back and figure out how many times the House Majority Leader and his colleagues voted to raise the debt ceiling under George W. Bush. One would figure, because they are fiscally conservative, they probably only voted to raise the debt ceiling once or twice under the eight-year tenure of George W. Bush. The GOP hypocrites raised the debt ceiling … 7 times … under George W. Bush and not once did they hold the president hostage to debt ceiling negotiations. (H/T: Babbazee)
The bias and motivation are obvious. It’s also obvious that, in order for his claim (that hypocrisy is exclusively a GOP trait) to be true, that the Democrats (including Obama) must have remained consistent on their positions towards the debt ceiling. But since they voted against raising the debt ceiling under Bush, but are rabidly in favor of it now, why is a change of attitude only evidence of hypocrisy when the GOP does it? Surely, on that basis, if hypocrisy exists at all, it must certainly exist on both sides of Congress (and in the White House as well), no?
Of course, that makes the assumption that the situation under Bush then is identical to the situation under Obama now. If the only thing that’s different is that a Democrat (or “a black man”, to quote the deranged Sheila Jackson Lee and others) is in the White House now instead of Bush, and that this is the sole reason for the change in opinion (on both sides); then yes, a claim of hypocrisy may credibly be made (although the claims of racism, lack of patriotism, and so forth also being hurled at the GOP remain unsupported and reprehensible). However, the situation is not identical…
The Sun — A pub singer was arrested for alleged “racism” after belting out the chart hit “Kung Fu Fighting” as two Chinese people walked past. One of them complained to cops, who later nicked (arrested) stunned Simon Ledger – in a Chinese restaurant. Simon, 34, often performs the song in Sandown, Isle of Wight. He said: “I hadn’t even seen these two.” Now he fears he could get a criminal record. … Simon, who has performed on TV with Michael Barrymore, was doing a spot with a pal at the town’s Driftwood Beach Bar on Sunday afternoon. … Simon said: “We were performing ‘Kung Fu Fighting,’ as we do during all our sets. People of all races were loving it. Chinese people have never been offended by it before. …” (H/T: iOwnTheWorld)
I guess I need to be more careful. I like that song and have also sung it… and I’ve done the song in the video below he cut as well. Of course, since racism and civil rights prosecutions only go in one direction, no one will ever be prosecuted for singing “Play that funky music, white boy. Lay down the boogie and play that funky music ’til you die” no matter how much it would be treated as a hatey-hate death threat if you replaced “white” with any one of several other adjectives.
