Just a few quick comments on this morning’s C2 Daily Grind:

[CSM via WZ] A ship jointly owned by Swedish, Greek, and Norwegian activists hoping to join a flotilla of activist vessels challenging Israel’s economic blockade of Gaza, had its propeller cut while in Athen’s [sic] harbor today. A spokesman contacted by the Monitor said that the damage was a deliberate act of sabotage.

We need to hunt down the person or persons responsible for this criminal attack … and give them cake.

[DC] Obama admin political appointee takes heat for trips home on taxpayers’ dime. Obama political appointee Ron Sims is under scrutiny for trips he made to Seattle during the first several months after his appointment.

He’s wasting money that the Obamas need for their vacations.

[HA] Media pretty excited over Bachmann’s John Wayne gaffe in Iowa… She claimed in an interview with Fox News that she shares the spirit of another famous Waterloo, Iowa, resident, John Wayne. But John Wayne never lived in Waterloo; John Wayne Gacy did

Don’t worry; I’m sure she’ll do better in the other 56 states.

[Trib] Blagojevich on guilty verdict: ‘I, frankly, am stunned’ … In its 10th day of deliberations, the 11-woman, one-man jury convicted Blagojevich of several shakedown attempts, including allegations that he brazenly tried to sell President Barack Obama’s old U.S. Senate seat in 2008.

I’m surprised, too. This is Chicago; how could the fix have not been in?

Pakistan Army Warns U.S.: Don’t Raid Our Country Again

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan’s army broke its silence Thursday over the U.S. commando raid that killed Osama bin Laden, acknowledging its own “shortcomings” in efforts to find the al-Qaida leader but threatening to review cooperation with Washington if there is another similar violation of Pakistani sovereignty. The tough-sounding statement was a sign of the anger in the army. It also appeared aimed at appeasing politicians, the public and the media in the country over what’s viewed by many here as a national humiliation delivered by a deeply unpopular America. … (H/T: C2)

Fuck you sideways, Pakistan. You had Osama for years and there’s absolutely no way that you didn’t know it. If anything, further raids on Pakistan are required.

Daily Mail — American bloggers have hit back at Europeans who have criticised the outpouring of joy over the death of Osama Bin Laden. While thousands of U.S citizens took to the streets to celebrate the killing, the reaction in Europe was far more muted. And some are so angered by what they see as a judgmental stance from across The Pond, they have gone online to hit back at the “cheese-eating surrender monkeys.” …

I should just call this post the “fuck you sideways” edition, if that expression weren’t more suitable elsewhere.

Ding Dong, the Bitch is Dead

2 May 2011

I’m sure everybody (even Adolf Hitler) knows by now that Osama bin Laden is dead, dead, dead. I for one couldn’t be happier… for a variety of reasons.

First, I’m glad the bastard is dead. Some may have complained that his death was “too quick,” but any other suggestion just isn’t reasonable. Torture him first? Try to take him alive so that Eric Holder can hold his trial in New York City and get him released on a technicality? Just kill him and be done with it. I don’t begrudge the fact that he body was treated “in accordance with Islamic beliefs”, meaning that he was buried (at sea) within 24 hours of death – Yes, I’m sure we’d all prefer that he were buried in a shroud of bacon; but isn’t that just a waste of good bacon? I’m not sure exactly what they meant to accomplish by granting him this “honor”, but hey. As long as he’s not merely dead, but really most sincerely dead, we can afford to be magnanimous.

Secondly, I’m quite happy to see the lack of a groundswell of conspiracy theories surrounding the event. During Bush’s presidency his opponents frequently implied that he knew exactly where Osama was, and that he was just waiting for the right time (before his reelection in 2004, when his polls numbers hit rock bottom or he had a story to distract the media from) to capture/kill bin Laden for personal political gain. If Osama had been killed during the Bush presidency, regardless of the time and details; the media, academia, and left-wing blogosphere would have been abroil with innuendo and lies. Regardless of who gets the credit, I’m glad to see more maturity among the circles within which I move – For the most part, we’re just all happy to see him dead. Can I say “dead” again? A tingle goes up my fingers whenever I type the word… Osama is dead, dead, dead… (This must be Chris Matthews feels all the time since 2008.)

He’s Lucky Cartman Didn’t Make Him Eat His Own Parents in Chili

ZGeek — A Virginia man was sentenced Thursday to twenty-five years in prison for trying to help a Somalia militant group and threatening writers of the satirical South Park television show for their depiction of the prophet Mohammad, the U.S. Justice Department said. A federal judge in Virginia handed down the sentence for Zachary Chesser, who pleaded guilty to making threats, soliciting others to threaten violence and material support to the group, al Shabaab. Chesser admitted he ran numerous websites and called for violence against Americans. In one instance he published the home addresses for the writers of South Park after they lampooned Mohammad and he urged readers to “pay them a visit.”

Apparently this guy wasn’t important enough to have his prosecution scuttled by the DOJ in order to advance “muslim outreach.”

People Will Say That We’re At War

31 March 2011

Why do they write up stories of war misusing their free speech?

Why do the people all disagree, outside our reach?

Listen right here, we can make it clear what we will do
Here is the gist, a practical list of quotes for you…
Don’t tell it to them straight
FOX News is gonna hate
Find something the press can relate
People will say we’re at war!
Don’t say we’re sending arms
Just peaceful guided bombs
Find something in their bitter psalms
People will say we’re at war!
It’s a kinetic thing
Just loud sounds those concerts bring
Don’t disagree with your King!
People will say we’re at war!

I Guess They Wear Sneakers

President Obama has secretly sent the CIA into Libya. Apparently, they aren’t covered by his promise not to have any “boots on the ground” in the non-enemy-country we face in the not-war.

The Daily Mail — The President has signed a secret order authorizing covert U.S. government support for rebel forces seeking to oust Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. The revelation comes as Obama and allies talked openly of arming the rebels who, despite the UN-backed no-fly zone, are on the verge of being overrun by Gaddafi’s superior military force. It is not clear what covert operations the CIA will carry out in Libya. The White House and the agency have refused to confirm it will take a role in the revolution, and Obama has insisted the U.S. will not attempt regime change in the country, but will merely support the rebels in their battle. … Obama signed the order within the last two or three weeks, four U.S. government sources told Reuters. (H/T: GatewayPundit)

The last two or three weeks? That could be before he even authorized the no-fly zone and the bombings. Well, we already know that Obama had absolutely no legal or Constitutional authority to send in the military – but what about the CIA?

Foreign Policy — Responding to reports President Barack Obama secretly authorized covert action to support the Libyan rebels, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said that actually arming the Libyan rebels would require his approval and he hasn’t given it. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI) said in a late Wednesday interview that the Obama administration’s top national security officials were deeply split on whether arming the rebels was a good idea. … Rogers wouldn’t confirm or deny the report that Obama issued what’s known as a “presidential finding” authorizing the intelligence community to begin broadly supporting the Libyan rebels, because such findings are sensitive and classified. But he said that if Obama wanted to arm the rebels, the president would need Rogers’ support, which he doesn’t yet have. “Any covert action that happens would have to get the sign off of the intelligence chairmen, by statute. You won’t get a sign off from me,” Rogers said referring to National Security Act 47. “I still think arming the rebels is a horrible idea. We don’t know who they are, we only know who they are against but we don’t really who they are for. We don’t have a good picture of who’s really in charge.” … (H/T: AllahPundit)

ABC News — In Official Notification Two Days Later, President Obama Alerts Congress the US Joined a War (H/T: C2)

Well, that was awfully nice of him. Some of them may not have noticed.

…President Obama Monday officially notified congressional leaders that at “approximately 3:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, on March 19, 2011, at my direction, U.S. military forces commenced operations to assist an international effort authorized by the United Nations (U.N.) Security Council and undertaken with the support of European allies and Arab partners, to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe and address the threat posed to international peace and security by the crisis in Libya.” (emphasis added)

Because we all know that the Constitution delegates the power to declare war to the United Nations and the Arab League.

The notification was part of the president’s “efforts to keep the Congress fully informed, consistent with the War Powers Resolution” … (emphasis added)

The War Powers Resolution of 1973 (50 U.S.C. 1541–1548) only allows the President to send US armed forces into action abroad if the United States is already under attack or facing a serious threat of attack. Failing those conditions (which clearly do not exist), only the Congress can declare war. In this case, they weren’t even consulted. (more…)

Given all the panic and hyperbole in the media about the nuclear plants in Japan (I’m expecting CNN to report, with a straight face, the increased likelihood of Godzilla attacks caused by the radiation), here’s an explanation from someone who knows whereof he speaks:

I have been reading every news release on the incident since the earthquake. There has not been one single (!) report that was accurate and free of errors (and part of that problem is also a weakness in the Japanese crisis communication). By “not free of errors” I do not refer to tendentious anti-nuclear journalism – that is quite normal these days. By “not free of errors” I mean blatant errors regarding physics and natural law, as well as gross misinterpretation of facts, due to an obvious lack of fundamental and basic understanding of the way nuclear reactors are build and operated. I have read a 3 page report on CNN where every single paragraph contained an error. …

(H/T: Soylent Green, which also has another piece entitled “Because the Greens Will Further Demonize Nuclear Power” about different types of reactors, and why we should be using thorium for nuclear fuel.)

Update: Some Democrats want the USA to “put the brakes” on nuclear power. (H/T: C2) (more…)

Just in time to brought up as an exhibit in Representative Peter King’s (R-NY) hearings on radical Islam, if Keith Ellison (D-MN) is done crying over bold-faced lies: Al-Qaeda has launched a “Jihad Cosmo” women’s magazine, which mixes fashion tips with suicide-bombing advice…

Daily Mail …the glossy magazine’s front cover features the barrel of a sub-machine gun next to a picture a woman in a veil. There are exclusive interviews with martyrs’ wives, who praise their husbands’ decisions to die in suicide attacks. The slick, 31-page Al-Shamikha magazine — meaning The Majestic Woman — has advice for singletons on ‘marrying a mujahideen’. Readers are told it is their duty to raise children to be mujahideen ready for jihad. And the ‘beauty column’ instructs women to stay indoors with their faces covered to keep a ‘clear complexion’. … another article urges readers to give their lives for the Islamist cause. It advises: ‘From martyrdom, the believer will gain security, safety and happiness.’ More traditional content for a women’s magazine includes features on the merits of honey facemasks, etiquette, first aid and why readers should avoid ‘toweling too forcibly’. A trailer for the next issue promises tips on skin care — and how to wage electronic jihad. (H/T: Weasel Zippers)

Obama: “Raaaaacism!!!”

5 March 2011

Obama’s surrogates and apologists have never let up on the smears that opposition to Dear Leader is racially-based, regardless of and completely separate to the issues pushed by Obama and his abysmal job performance. Many of these groups take their marching orders and talking points directly from the top, while Obama himself stays above the fray. Well, now Obama himself has pushed this despicable lie.

…the brutally honest, be it absurd assessment can be found in Family of Freedom: Presidents and African-Americans in the White House. Now according to the book, at a private White House dinner in May of 2010, the president explained to his guests that quote, “race was probably a key component in the rising opposition to his presidency from conservatives, especially right-wing activists in the anti-incumbent Tea Party Movement.” At the same function against argued that the Tea Party has simply angry that a black man is president. Now rather than dispute that notion, President Obama agreed and reportedly called racism the quote, “subterranean agenda of the movement.” So without a shred of evidence, the president has no problem labeling the Tea Party as racist. But in recent years, he’s been ultimately quick to forgive racially insensitive remarks made by some on the left. …

WMDs Found … In America?

14 February 2011

The following clip was broadcast on a local news show (ABC 10) in San Diego on February 9th – almost a week ago. The national media, for whatever reason, has failed to report it (Jammie Wearing Fool found out about it from a British newspaper). Below, an “I-Team” reporter speaks to assistant port director Al Hallor about what they find during port of entry inspections:
