Could Be Worse. Could Be Christian…

14 March 2011

Just in time to brought up as an exhibit in Representative Peter King’s (R-NY) hearings on radical Islam, if Keith Ellison (D-MN) is done crying over bold-faced lies: Al-Qaeda has launched a “Jihad Cosmo” women’s magazine, which mixes fashion tips with suicide-bombing advice…

Daily Mail …the glossy magazine’s front cover features the barrel of a sub-machine gun next to a picture a woman in a veil. There are exclusive interviews with martyrs’ wives, who praise their husbands’ decisions to die in suicide attacks. The slick, 31-page Al-Shamikha magazine — meaning The Majestic Woman — has advice for singletons on ‘marrying a mujahideen’. Readers are told it is their duty to raise children to be mujahideen ready for jihad. And the ‘beauty column’ instructs women to stay indoors with their faces covered to keep a ‘clear complexion’. … another article urges readers to give their lives for the Islamist cause. It advises: ‘From martyrdom, the believer will gain security, safety and happiness.’ More traditional content for a women’s magazine includes features on the merits of honey facemasks, etiquette, first aid and why readers should avoid ‘toweling too forcibly’. A trailer for the next issue promises tips on skin care — and how to wage electronic jihad. (H/T: Weasel Zippers)

What? He Broke Another Promise?

8 March 2011

Raise your hands if you’re surprised. Yeah, me neither.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Associated Press has learned that President Barack Obama is approving the resumption of military trials for detainees at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, ending a two-year ban. A senior military official says Obama will issue an executive order Monday. Defense Secretary Robert Gates will rescind his January 2009 ban against bringing new cases against the terror suspects at the detention facility. Obama vowed when he took office to close the detention facility at Guantanamo, but officials have recently acknowledged that closure is not likely because of questions about where terror suspects would be held. (H/T Weasel Zippers)

So it’s not just the White House that’s butthurt; just imagine how Obama’s supporters must be feeling right now. Why, if it wasn’t for the fact that there was a Democrat in the Oval Office, all of those anti-war pro-terrorist “activists” would be filling the streets, making their voices heard and their stenches smelled. But, on the Left, hypocrisy flows from the top down and from the bottom up. Not to mention laterally, diagonally, and even via vectors which can’t be described in a family blog (at least, not without using at least six dimensions; and who has time for that sort of math?)

Bush/Obama: Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

He Also Lost the Vote for Prom Queen

Providing even more evidence that people are growing increasingly disenchanted with the Hopium™ habit and looking forward to real Change in 2012, schools just aren’t interested in seeing Teh One or hearing the unicorn tales that he loves to spin anymore. The youth are supposed to be the Left’s big target (can I say that word?) audience, but for some reason schools just aren’t interested this year in inviting Obama to use them for backdrops. (Maybe they just can’t afford to power his omnipresent teleprompters during these tight times.) According to a leaked secret White House memo (H/T: AllahPundit, Hot Air)

CBS — The competition was extended from the February 25 deadline until Friday, March 11, after few schools met the original application deadline. CBS News has learned a White House Communications Office internal memo dated February 22 noted “a major issue with the Commencement Challenge.” “As of yesterday we had received 14 applications and the deadline is Friday,” the memo said. The memo also urged recipients to, “please keep the application number close hold.” A follow-up memo on February 28 reported receipt of 68 applications. Noting the competition among more than 1,000 schools last year, the memo said, “Something isn’t working.” It called on staffers to ask “friendly congressional, gubernatorial and mayoral offices” to encourage schools to apply. “We should also make sure the Cabinet is pushing the competition out to their lists,” the memo said. The note reiterated, “We do not want the actual application number out there (we didn’t release the number of applications we received last year until after the submission period)-so folks should not use it in their pitches.”

You can just feel the butthurt oozing out of that memo, can’t you? My heart bleeds for them… or, at least, it would if I wasn’t afraid of the condition placing me in front of a death panel. (NSFW image below cut.)

Obama: “Raaaaacism!!!”

5 March 2011

Obama’s surrogates and apologists have never let up on the smears that opposition to Dear Leader is racially-based, regardless of and completely separate to the issues pushed by Obama and his abysmal job performance. Many of these groups take their marching orders and talking points directly from the top, while Obama himself stays above the fray. Well, now Obama himself has pushed this despicable lie.

…the brutally honest, be it absurd assessment can be found in Family of Freedom: Presidents and African-Americans in the White House. Now according to the book, at a private White House dinner in May of 2010, the president explained to his guests that quote, “race was probably a key component in the rising opposition to his presidency from conservatives, especially right-wing activists in the anti-incumbent Tea Party Movement.” At the same function against argued that the Tea Party has simply angry that a black man is president. Now rather than dispute that notion, President Obama agreed and reportedly called racism the quote, “subterranean agenda of the movement.” So without a shred of evidence, the president has no problem labeling the Tea Party as racist. But in recent years, he’s been ultimately quick to forgive racially insensitive remarks made by some on the left. …

Tax Refund Link

5 March 2011

I’ve already mailed out my tax returns (federal and state); I want to get my refunds before they decide to stop sending out checks and start issuing IOUs instead. (Well, my state hasn’t done that yet, but you never know… nor do we know how much of a delay a shutdown of the federal government will impose on refunds being sent out.) Anyway, for my reference and yours, here’s the official IRS “Dude, Where’s My Refund?” site which can give you an estimate as to when you can expect to receive your money – assuming, that is, that you overpaid the government and have money coming back. Your state may or may not have a similar service available. And, just because it’s a classic, here’s this video again:
