Winter Wonderland

11 January 2011

Global warming went away because not enough of us believed in it and clapped our hands. Or is that Tinkerbell? I always get those two confused.

Oh the climate outside is frigid
But their doctrine remains rigid
So since they claimed the cold would go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

It doesn’t show signs of stopping
And the spinners’ heads are popping
Now the hidden decline will show
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

When we finally read your mail
How your numbers were jumbled and cooked
Your con job is doomed to fail
As the world learns the way they’ve been rooked

The hockey stick has gone flatter
And Al Gore keeps getting fatter
So until the sunspot count grows
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Nobama 2012

11 January 2011

The Hill – President Obama’s reelection in 2012 won’t be easy, the chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) says.

Nor will it even be desirable, according to at least one CBC member.

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO), the new chairman of the CBC, told the group IMPACT to expect a bruising fight to secure the president a second term. “It’s realistic for our party to understand the enormous challenge we’re going to have, to get him back in the White House in 2012,” Cleaver told the group …

After all, this time Obama will actually have a record to run on, and a known history to be judged against. The “Blank Slate Messiah” technique only works once.

“It will not be a landslide or an easy victory,” Cleaver added. “We’re going to have to scrape and battle for every vote we get.”

He forgot to mention lie, cheat, and steal. Just imagine the voter fraud they’re planning for 2012.

Cleaver said the president has been the a victim of impossibly high expectations for his first two years in office. “The majority of Americans placed inflated expectation on candidate Obama and some even placed all of their hopes and dreams in him,” the Missouri Democrat said. …

And whose fault was that?

Some of Obama’s advisers are expected to begin formally setting up his reelection operation in Chicago some time in the first half of the year.

Bullshit. Obama has never stopped campaigning; his reelection campaign began the moment McCain conceded on Election Day (actually, McCain conceded sometime in the summer of 2008).

The Secret Word Is…

6 January 2011

So, is “Forward” the new secret magic word (excuse me, “brand”) that the far left is using to hide their message since “liberal”, “progressive”, and all of their other names have fallen into disrepute? Funny how conservatives aren’t afraid to call themselves conservatives (of course, there are a lot more of us) but their opponents are continually changing their labels in a desperate attempt to avoid realizing that it’s their message that’s the problem, not how they “sell it”.

First, MSNBC came out with “Lean Forward“. Next, the No Labels astroturf campaign came out with “No Labels. Not Left. Not Right. Forward.” (They didn’t just borrow “forward”, they also stole their logo.) And now, we have this:

But no, the left and the MSM (but I repeat myself) never coordinate their talking points

Where There’s a Will

6 January 2011

Politico — Elizabeth Edwards left everything to her children and made not a single mention of her philandering husband John in the will she signed just days before her death. … Elizabeth and John Edwards separated in early 2010 after he admitted to fathering a child in an extramarital affair with Rielle Hunter. … (H/T: Hot Air)

Really? She didn’t mention him or give him anything at all? At the very least, she could have given him…

Not Such a Wilde Idea

6 January 2011

Oscar Wilde famously quipped that “Work is the curse of the drinking class.” Maryland nanny-staters are working to elevate taxes to that position as well.

Baltimore — …It’s called the “Dime a Drink Tax,” and it would hit all alcoholic drinks, if Maryland’s legislature approves it this year. … “Alcohol excise tax is a win-win for the state. They provide much needed revenue, and reduce alcohol consumption and related problems,” said David Jernigan, Johns Hopkins professor.

I don’t know about that. The current reign of fascist nanny-state tax hikers have been far worse for my health, stress, and sanity than any amount of alcoholic drinks I may have had in recent years. Ironically, those same Democrats (who in Maryland did not take the major 2010 midterm hit that most of the rest of the country enjoyed) make me more likely to need a drink.

But an increase at restaurants and bars may not be such a good thing. Good times stopped rolling during the recession and business coming back now is still viewed as fragile. “We’re still in this economic recession right now, and anything more is going to take people out of restaurants in Baltimore and Maryland. And that’s not good for the economy,” said Bill Irvin, Kooper’s Tavern. The tax would also hit retailers, upping a six-pack by 60 cents and wine and spirits by a dime a serving.

Well, you can always trust the Democrats to snatch recession from the jaws of recovery. It’s almost as if they’re doing it deliberately…
