Don’t Throw Me Into That Briar Patch! – Barack Obama has said he will not campaign for any Democratic congressmen who fails to support health care reform. Mr. Obama’s threat came as the year-long debate over his signature domestic policy entered its final week.

“Final week”? The Democratic whip says that the “House’s healthcare vote could be delayed until as late as Easter.” Easter … Is that a desperate attempt to resurrect the bill? Are the Democrats confusing their messiahs again?

In any event, I fail to see how Obama’s threat is likely to gain more “Yes” votes for the bill’s passage, assuming they bother to hold a vote at all. Obama is the toxic kiss of death for Chicago’s Olympic hopes, the Copenhagen summit, the Democratic gubernatorial candidates for New Jersey and Virginia, Martha Coakley running for Ted Kennedy’s the people’s Senate seat in Massachusetts, and so forth. Any Democrat whose seat is up for grabs (which, after Scott Brown’s victory, is almost all of them) in 2010 will do well to run as fast and as far from Barack Hussein Obama as their slimy, corrupt, chubby little legs can carry them. Who knows? Some of them who want to keep their jobs (and the endless perks, including the quality health care that they mean to deny the rest of us) may just vote “No” to guarantee Obama’s absence in their districts between now and November. If Obama were really as clever as the media (without any supporting evidence) claim he is, he would be promising to campaign for the people who vote against the bill. That would put the fear of God whatever Democrats believe in into them!
