Washington – The Democrat’s chief vote counter in the House says that right now there aren’t enough votes to pass President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul.
They probably avoided using the term “Democratic Whip” to describe him, to avoid any confusion with Eric Massa. Of course, having insufficient votes is only a problem if the “Democratic” House leadership actually plans to hold a vote.
Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina says he’s confident that the legislation will pass. He says the White House and Democratic leaders in Congress have gotten to a point where there’s a way to send the measure to the president’s desk for his signature.
Why bother with a vote, and complying with that whole pesky Constitution thing, when you can use “The Slaughter Solution” to simply “deem” that the House has passed the Senate bill, without the House ever actually passing the Senate bill, and get the whole healthcare hijacking onto the President’s desk (and/or teleprompter) as soon as possible? Can the Democrats convince lawyers, judges, and the public, that the phrase “the end justifies the means” is somehow to be found within the umbras and penumbras of our “living” Constitution? Or will they even bother trying to justify it, once they’ve finally come out and admitted that they’re a junta that will do whatever the hell they please?
One can only hope that this latest outrage fails, and that the attempted perpetrators receive all of the scorn and derision they deserve – as well as the “opportunity to seek new employment” come November.
