Health Care Update

As if Leftards comparing global warming skeptics (i.e. those of us who are not engaged in a massive campaign of lies and cover-up) to Holocaust deniers wasn’t tasteless and repugnant enough (not to mention the regularity with which anyone who votes for or runs as a Republican is automatically branded a member of the Nazi party), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is searching for new depths to plumb.

Fox News — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid took his GOP-blasting rhetoric to a new level Monday, comparing Republicans who oppose health care reform to lawmakers who clung to the institution of slavery more than a century ago. The Nevada Democrat, in a sweeping set of accusations on the Senate floor, also compared health care foes to those who opposed women’s suffrage and the civil rights movement – even though it was Sen. Strom Thurmond, then a Democrat, who unsuccessfully tried to filibuster the Civil Rights Act of 1957 and it was Republicans who led the charge against slavery. Senate Republicans on Monday called Reid’s comments “offensive” and “unbelievable.”

Given the long history of the Democratic party in supporting slavery, opposing civil rights laws, passing Jim Crow laws, and forming the Ku Klux Klan; the hypocrisy of Harry Reid in this case is truly breathtaking. It also reeks of desperation, given that a majority of Nevadans are now against the health care reforms and that Harry-boy is up for re-election in 2010. If the bill does pass and there is a backlash against it, count on him being one of the ones desperately (and bitterly?) trying to cling on to his seat.

Even Obama has passed up the opening ceremonies of the Copenhagen Fraud Summit in order to rally Democrats to pass a bill that won’t get a single Republican vote. Apparently the first and biggest hurdle is today’s vote on the Sacrament of Abortion. I’m surprised the Democrats still allow any dissension in their ranks on that issue.

Oh the hypocrisy on the left is stunning. I hope Dingy Harry Reid and Blinky get the boot come 2010.

Where are the R leaders of the Senate (sorry, is that an oxymoron)? How about a little less “My esteemed colleague” and a little more “WTF did you just call us you crooked, lying jackass?”
